October 12-15, 2023 The first TFAM Retreat TFAM volunteers are busy planning the first ever TFAM Retreat, Harvesting Our Creativity. The 2023 retreat will be held at Camp Assiniboia near Headingley, MB Join us in a lovely woodland setting to share three days of learning and creative inspiration. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to renew and build relationships, refresh our connection to fibre art, and nourish our creative spirit.
Guests arrive Thursday evening to start a weekend of sharing, workshops, demos and presentations.
To register for the TFAM Retreat, Harvesting Our Creativity, Oct 12-15, 2023, payment of $240 to TFAM is required by July 12, 2023. (If less than 25 members are registered by this time, TFAM may cancel the retreat.) *Note: your fee covers all accommodations and meals.
Cancellation Policy: Individual registrations may not be cancelled after July 12, although you may transfer your registration to another TFAM member.
You will receive an invoice shortly after registration. It can be paid by credit or bank card. If you prefer etransfer, send it to tfamartists@gmail.com.
About Camp Assiniboia: Located at 2220 Lido Plage Rd Cartier, MB R4K 1A3 (Just west of Headingley, MB)
*A note about accommodations at the camp. The camp has mostly bunk beds (at least 4 per room) but all registrants will get a lower bunk or a separate bed. In the main lodge, bedrooms are on the second floor but if needed for mobility issues, an outside cabin can be assigned that has no stairs.
*Activities will be in the lodge, main floor area, except for some of the dyeing workshop. It will be in an outside (canvas sided) structure.
Agenda for the Retreat: Thursday, October 12 - guests to arrive between 5 - 6 PM (Note* No meal is provided this day). Sign in, find your room, make your bed and we are ready for the activities to begin. We have the whole lodge until Sunday afternoon. *NOTE- TFAM AGM Sunday at 1 PM.
Breakfast will be at 8:30 each morning and a lunch and dinner at noon and 5:30. The following is a "high-level" outline of the weekend planned events.

Creative Journaling - Krista Zeghers Have you ever had a great idea flit by without capturing it? Have ideas come to you that need to percolate and you aren’t sure where to put them? Join Krista as she walks you through the process of chronicling discoveries on a daily basis.
Fabric Dyeing - Susan Selby Come explore with Susan as she demonstrates the process of creating beautifully dyed textiles using proper fibre preparation, mordant and shibori techniques.
3D Vessels- Elaine Filyk and Yvonne Carlson Enjoy an inspirational day using a unique wire mesh to create form and structure. More details to follow.
Guest Speaker - Textile Explorer, Tamara Klassen Come explore with Tamara as she discusses the various trips that she has taken on the hunt for textile adventures, learning about dyeing, weaving, and stitching practices in places such as Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Peru, Mexico, Guatemala and more. She will share what she has learned in various places and bring a photo slideshow and trunk show of textiles.
Member’s Show ‘N Share You are invited to bring along your original work for informal evening discussions. It can be a piece that represents part of your journey, a unique technique, an unfinished project or just a piece that you would like to share or get help with.
Mindful Yoga (optional) Begin Sunday morning with a “zen” moment and learn how to relax with yoga, hand yoga and stress relief exercises using simple techniques.
Tea With TFAM - AGM Meeting Join us in person for dainties and tea as we discuss a successful 2023. (Those not attending the retreat may link in with ZOOM.)
Sale and Swap Table Are you done with that fibre and looking for something new to tickle your fancy? Are you ready to swap out what you no longer need for something you would love to get your hands on? Do you have magazines or books that no longer excite you? If so, bring them along and exchange or sell them at the TFAM Textile Tickle Trunk Sale & Swap.
What to Bring: TFAM is providing the instructors and the majority of supplies needed for the workshops and activities. There may be some items for participants to bring from home. This list will be provided to registrants at a later date.
You can bring any personal projects you wish to work on while at the retreat and, of course, your Show 'N Share items.
