Antoinette Blankvoort Wieberdink
VicePresident / Social Media
Antoinette was born and educated in the Netherlands. After immigrating to Canada in 1977 the social worker / farmer/ Librarian reluctantly accepted an invite to attend a quilting class. A modest table runner was the start of a love affair with fabric. The fascination lead her to explore traditional quilting techniques as well as modern quilting and finally fabric art.
Her interest in the fibre arts started with spinning yarn from the wool of their own sheep. Antoinette is now an avid knitter. When working with fabric she draws inspiration from designers like Kaffe Fassett and many others. Her signature palette is composed of but not limited to rich hues of red . She is inspired by exploring new techniques in fibre and fabric art and learning from other artists. |
Past President
Krista Zeghers
Krista loves artwork where the image is recognizable to the viewer, but has something unique and special about it. There could be a change of scale, a different colour scheme, a close up of a small section, a repeated pattern or shape; any element that makes the work come alive and provides interest. Krista feels art needs to intrigue the viewer, make them want to look closer and spend time with the piece.

Treasurer
Michelle Gaber
To take a journey in art is to follow a meandering path that is never ending; each step a stride toward individual expression.
With a Bachelor Degree in Interior Design from the University of Manitoba, my professional career charted my journey using elements of design and textiles within the confines of structured, practical use. Now I have plotted a new course, immersing myself in the exploration and interplay of fibres purely as a creative medium. I take delight in the tactile nature of fabric and embrace the artistic freedom to manipulate it using design, thread and embellishments - the transformation of these elements dictates my path as a fibre artist. |
Secretary
Tania Deleva
Tania is a knitter, knitting scarves, shawls, socks, hats, etc.
She took sewing classes in high school and sewed a lot of her own clothes at that time. In the last few years Tania has made project bags for knitting and has noticed that her fabric stash is now competing with her yarn stash, and she has a lot of yarn. Two years ago, she did a small landscape "quilt" from a photo her daughter took and really enjoyed the process. |
